Moanalua H.S. ATs Host Heart Screenings

Hawaii Heart Foundation and Kaiser Permanente sponsored a free heart screening on November 2, 2013 at Moanalua High School. About 150 males and females from ages 14-22 participated. Local ATs Assist the Honolulu Marathon

Local athletic trainers and athletic training students from Japan helped a Japanese running club with evaluations, pre and post race treatment, taping, massaging and icing during the Honolulu Marathon which took place on December 8th. This community of Japanese athletic trainers working in Hawaii has increased over the past decade and has been helping the Japanese running club, consisting of over 200 mostly novice runners, since 2008. Hawaii ATs Conduct Weight Monitoring

On November 19th, athletic trainers from the Oahu Interscholastic Association collaborated for the weight-monitoring program of the 2013-2014 wrestling season.  Hydration, measured by urine specific gravity, weight and body fat, measured by skin fold assessment, were collected for each athlete in order to determine the safest weight class to compete.
