Hit the Hill Legislative Day 2014

article_hit the hill 2014On Monday, February 27th, NATA President Jim Thornton joined members of the California Athletic Trainers Association for their Annual Symposium & Hit the Hill Day. Together they met with legislators at the California State Capital in efforts to lobby for licensure for athletic trainers. We had an extremely successful lobbying day in Sacramento for our licensure bill AB 1890.  Thank you to the 104 ATs and students from across our state who participated!  We had scheduled meetings with over 70 legislators and countless drop-in visits that led to actual meetings.  California decision-makers heard our message and we look forward to continuing this momentum into this legislative year and our first committee hearing next month.

THIS IS THE YEAR FOR THE LICENSURE OF ATs IN OUR STATE!  We encourage every athletic trainer and student in the state to join the fight this year. We cannot do it without you.

We will be starting our first [of many] letter campaigns soon!
